At the annual end-of-season dance in Edinburgh last night (Saturday) the Monarchs' promotion had two important announcements to make.

The first was actually made by Scotwaste boss Stewart Melrose in his post-dinner speech. Addressing his comments to the team captain Derek Sneddon he said -

?I'm pleased to tell you Derek that you and your team will again be carrying the name Scotwaste Monarchs on your race jackets next season.

?We get good coverage from backing the Monarchs. I like the sport and I like the people in it.

?Last year I took my 10 year old boy and his friends from his football team to a meeting. They had a ball and that's another reason I want to stay involved with the Monarchs.?

Promoter John Campbell welcomed the return of the Bathgate based recycling company as sponsors. He said

?Stewart has an infectious enthusiasm. When Alex Harkess and I visited him last week to finalise the sponsorship details, he even got us enthusiastic about waste recycling!?

Campbell then introduced the Scotwaste Monarchs' first signing for 2008 ? or at least a lifesized photo of him.

He said ?As we don't know the rules for next season we can't make many signings yet, but one rider who will definitely be in the team is AARON SUMMERS.?

Australian Summers rode a few matches for the team on a short visit in 2007 and showed potential. He is currently racing back home but had sent a message looking forward to joining the side in March and hoping to justify the faith the Monarchs' bosses have placed in him.
