It wasn't a great day for William Lawson in the PLRC at Sheffield but he did come to life with an excellent victory from the back in his last ride.

He had failed to score in his first four heats, though he was unlucky to stop when in third place in heat 13.

He said afterwards "I just changed everything for my last heat, and it worked. At least that proved I could ride the track."

In that final heat he gated second and then shocked Ulrich Ostergaard the pre-meeting favourite by bursting past him.

The meeting was won deservedly by Tai Woffinden who recovered from a slow start. It was not a great meeting with much of the overtaking coming from use of the outside of the pits bend, which Woffinden made best use of.

Jason Doyle was second and Adrian Rymel third, though Kauko Nieminen was unlucky to stop in the final when third.
