  Edinburgh Monarchs

In spite of a slow start and blown engines for Derek Sneddon and Ryan Fisher, the team once again gritted their teeth and fought their way in to the Premier Playoff final.

We don't know yet whether that will be against King's Lynn or Rye House - that will be decided on Saturday.

We trailed 11-25 (heat 6) and 20-36 (heat 9, with the TR gone) but Monarchs dug in and gained some favourable results, none better than the 5-1 in the thrice-started heat 12.

In fact we gained two points on the Rebels over the last 6 heats, a remarkable effort. The heroes were Matthew (great from start to finish), Ryan, Derek and Andrew.

The score was the same as at Workington in the second leg of the KO Cup semi, but this time we had more to play with from the first leg.

It was a good meeting on a slickish track, on a pleasant evening.
