Scotwaste Monarchs' star Ryan Fisher has called Redcar's Gary Havelock to apologise and explain why he made the remarks he did on Sky TV last night.

He said "I spoke to Gary on Tuesday night and said sorry, and he has accepted my apology."

They had crashed on the first corner of a vital heat 15 in the Redcar v Edinburgh match. In a post-match interview Ryan appeared to blame Gary Havelock for the incident and suggested that it would not be the end of the matter.

In fact what happened is that Ty Proctor moved out and bumped Havelock into Fisher's path, bringing both down. News on Gary Havelock's injuries is awaited.

Ryan explained how the post-race situation developed. "When I crashed I wasn't even angry. I went over and asked Gary how he was. I knew he had run into me but I had no idea what had happened before that.

"As I walked down the straight all the fans were booing me. I thought ? I was on the outside, how can it be my fault?

"When I got back to the pits his mechanic came up to me and said ?If you can't take it then don't dish it out!'

"When he said that it made me think that what Gary had done was deliberate, so it angered me, and I was worked up when I got interviewed. I couldn't even remember what I said and I had to ask to see the interview so that I could apologise to Gary.

"I know now how the crash happened and that it wasn't Gary's fault at all. If his mechanic hadn't said what he did then the interview would never have gone that way. I wish I had seen the replay of the race before the interview."
