There were many plus points in the Scotwaste Monarchs' 60-32 win over Scunthorpe, most obviously an exceptional 9+3 score from new reserve Kyle Howarth.

Kyle picked up no fewer than three paid wins, and also gave David Howe a real run for his money on his TR ride, and even though Scunthorpe provided disappointing opposition the team already has a better balance to it.

Lee Dicken didn't score on his debut, and looked rusty, but he gated well enough and will surely settle down once he has a few matches under his belt. He was out practising in the second half and his spirit is undimmed.

The top five were all on song, the only last place coming in an untidy first ride by Kalle Katajisto. After that Kalle was unbeaten.

Kevin Wolbert and Craig Cook were both exceptional, each scoring four wins and a third place. Wolbert pulled off another of his thrilling last bend overtakes to beat David Howe in heat 13.

Howe top scored for the Scorpions and was involved in most of the good racing.

The only unbeaten rider was Matthew Wethers, going about his business quietly as usual but dropping no points!
