Although all this recent good weather has not been good for track preparation it has been good for the crowds pouring through the Armadale turnstiles.

We had two big crowds at the start of the season for opening night against Glasgow and then for the British Championship Semi Final but after that they have settled down although in recent weeks they have been edging up week by week.

Said Co-promoter, John Campbell, “Two Fridays ago we had our third biggest crowd of the season for our match against Glasgow and that crowd was above our break even figure. On Friday just passed the crowd was even bigger and so took over as our third biggest of the season. It’s great to see so many old and new faces coming along each week to enjoy a wonderful season for the Scotwaste Monarchs.”

Next week’s match against Berwick should also produce a big crowd as meetings with the Bandits in recent years have produced higher crowds than previous seasons.

After that it is our big meeting of the year, the Scottish Open Championship sponsored by David Harrison. Participants are being announced on an almost daily basis now and the draw for the riding order will take place at Armadale on Friday.

All forms of sponsorship, heat, rider, tyre and fuel and oil still remain available and can be purchased through our special website www.be-there.co.

An early reminder for all that the Open will start at 7.15pm on 2nd August.
