The Edinburgh Scotwaste Monarchs Annual End of Season Dinner Dance at the Marriott Hotel last Saturday was a tremendous success and a wonderful conclusion to the most memorable year in the Club's history

Riders and guests danced the night away before the 2014 team grouped together on the dancefloor at the end of the evening reflecting the camaraderie and bonding that they had shown throughout the record breaking season. Earlier, out of all the speeches, the one given by outgoing captain Derek Sneddon was perhaps the most entertaining. He had the audience in the palm of his hand putting them in stitches with his hilarious chat. I still giggle recalling it! If we didn't already know, we were reminded that 'Deek' is retiring from riding speedway after a long and interesting career. I wish him all the best and hope he pops into Armadale any time he's passing. I'm sure he will. He'll be more than welcome.

So, by now, the team has broken up (one or two of them having left for home already) and we know that the points limit will alter most of the teams in the league. We should find out what that points limit is when the Promoters have their annual conference in the middle of this month. It really is a shame that this happens in our sport where the successful teams are penalized. I think our heros of 2014 deserve a welcome break over the winter and I hope wherever they are next year, they come back refreshed and revitalised ready to entertain us! Each and every one of them will remember this year for the rest of their lives! That's for sure!

Now, I did hear at the dance of a couple of dates coming up although at the moment I can't confirm them. I believe the annual children's party is on Saturday, December 6th and the traditional video show is the following Friday which is the 12th. Be sure to keep a look out in the usual places for confirmation of these dates. As most of you will be too old to attend the former, I look forward to seeing you at the video show! I don't know how Mike Hunter is going to pick the best races of the season as there has been so many of them. We could be there until midnight! So make sure and be nice and early and grab a seat as it is always a packed house! Till next time, be good and take care!
