What The Fork Monarchs recently conducted a survey to understand the feelings of supporters during these unprecedented times and the results of this have now been analysed.

As the 2020 speedway season remains on hold due to the coronavirus pandemic, there have been signs of light at the end of the tunnel with the Scottish Government setting out a roadmap out of lockdown.

Monarchs Co-Promoter John Campbell explains, "The Scottish clubs in British Speedway are in a slightly different situation to our counterparts in England due to the different timeframes for easing lockdown measures.

"The UK Government plan was announced previously and in recent days the Scottish Government have released their roadmap so now all British clubs can see a route towards the return of speedway."

Monarchs recent survey was one stage in an important process of information gathering as to fully inform all decisions regarding the return of speedway. Campbell continued, "From our survey it is clear that our supporters are eager to see speedway return as soon as possible, I am with everyone in this regard as we all want to get back to seeing our speedway stars on track.

"However what was also clear is that, while some supporters would be happy to return immediately, the majority will happily return once the government allow it and subject to any required measures being in place.

"I wish to reassure everyone that there will be no inappropriate rush to return to action. Speedway will return with government permission and with all measures implemented fully. The safety of our supporters, riders, staff and officials is the most crucial factor and the return of speedway will be in line with this."

Monarchs coronavirus survey will be carried out at least once per month as to monitor any change in feeling as time passes. Campbell concluded, "I wish to thank everyone that took part in our first running of the survey. It is always very important that our supporters have the opportunity to express their opinions.

"I would like to ask all that took part this time continue to participate in each version of the survey going forward. I can't wait to welcome everyone back to Armadale Stadium when possible and this is an important part of the process in allowing this to happen. The Club remains fully committed to staging speedway at Armadale in 2020 if at all possible.

"Until then I send my best wishes to all from everyone at the Club and I hope everyone continues to enjoy the EMTV:Rewind and Sunday Lunch sessions. I have been a keen viewer and will continue to be until we are all back at Armadale Stadium again."

96.5% miss attending speedway.

As things stand at the present time, 85.7% will attend if speedway is staged in 2020 with government approval and/or measures in place.

98% would be comfortable with booking online or paying via contactless payments to reduce physical interaction.
