Over the years we have had many great matches with Newcastle and the visits by the Diamonds have been eagerly awaited. Find out more about this week's EMTV+ Match of the Week.

When the Diamonds came to see us on 28th April 2006 in the Premier Trophy, we had already recorded an away win against them by a single point in a 47-46 thriller, so they wanted to turn the tables.

Any team with George Stancl, James Grieves and Josef Franc in their ranks needs to be respected, and our own form had been a little patchy in spite of that away win – Workington had taken the points from Armadale a couple of weeks earlier.

I've chosen this match as the recommended Match of the Week for our EMTV+ customers. It's not one of the great Armadale fixtures but it has plenty of interest, and the racing gets better and better as the match goes on. It's a reminder of just how good Theo Pijper was in his best season with Monarchs.

In this match we had three Scots in our team and the Diamonds had two. Let's hope we can aim for similar representations in the future.
