Bears bring "Strongest team we have ever had"

At one time Redcar Bears (visitors to Armadale on Friday) were the most successful visiting team, but in recent years that has not been the case. However their boss Jitendra Duffill believes they can change that with this year's team.

He said "I think it is the strongest team we have ever had and it's one I think can go all the way." And don't forget that they won the Knockout Cup in the last UK season in 2019!

Team manager for What the Fork Monarchs in home matches is always club chairman Alex Harkess, and he agrees: "I enjoy Redcar matches here, I look forward to their visits. I think their team has come out stronger than the one they originally envisaged having, and I agree with them saying it's one of the strongest they have had. Good on them."

The opening heat on Friday will feature 2019 British Champion Charles Wright against 2017 Australian Champion Sam Masters, an indication of the quality in the Championship this year. Add in Richie Worrall and Josh Pickering in the home camp, Jake Allen and Michael Palm Toft for the Bears, plus plenty of interesting characters amongst the support riders, and it should be a great match in prospect.

Three riders will make their Monarchs' debut – Kye Thomson, Nathan Greaves and Joe Lawlor. And don't forget that Bears will also track Anders Rowe, the double-figure scoring sensation of the early Premiership fixtures! Eyes will also be on James Sarjeant who was to be in the Monarchs' 2020 side but lost his place after the enforced rule changes.

AGILIA BEARS: Charles Wright, Anders Rowe, Michael Palm Toft, Jordan Stewart, Jake Allen, James Sarjeant, Jordan Jenkins.

Sunday 30th May: Redcar v What the Fork Monarchs (Championship), 2pm.

Also this weekend (Saturday) the Armadale Stellar Devils travel to Leicester in the National Development League.
