We are just four days away from the celebration of our seventy years when sixteen present day riders will be joined by dozens of Monarchs stars from the past to celebrate a major occasion in the Club's history.

It was another defeat for the Staggs Bar Monarchs down at Newcastle tonight, after suffering the hefty blow of losing captain Erik Riss in his first ride in heat 4, but an eventual scoreline of 53-37 was not a bad performance considering they were 20 points down at heat 8.

After a poor showing at Berwick on Saturday night he Staggs Bar Monarchs will have little time to reflect as we head a little further down the A1 today to Brough Park to take on the Newcastle Diamonds in league action.

The Staggs Bar Monarchs put up their worst performance of the season so far going down 53-37 against Berwick in the Championship Shield on Saturday night.

After getting back to winning ways at home to Newcastle it's the short trip down the A1 to Shielfield tonight as we complete our Championship Shield fixtures for the year against the Berwick Bandits with a 7pm tapes up.

The Staggs Bar Monarchs scraped home tonight in an exciting finish against Newcastle, going in to the last heat level and taking a 4-2 after Stuart Robson had been excluded.

It came down to a last heat decider with the Staggs Bar Monarchs coming out on top 46-44 against Newcastle.

The Staggs Bar Monarchs start a busy spell of 3 matches in as many days as we welcome the Newcastle Diamonds on Friday evening in Championship action.
