The Scotwaste Monarchs beat Glasgow by four points at Armadale - but just missed out on the bonus.

It was a match more notable for incident than good racing. Derek Sneddon had falls in heats 2 and 12, and the Tigers' pair crashed in heat 14 with the result that Kauko Nieminen seems to have dislocated his shoulder.

Monarchs went into heat 15 three ahead on aggregate, but lost an important toss - gate 4 was the poorest all night. Up against a pair of the quality of Bird and Parker, the home pair were never in the hunt.

A deserving winner of the Halmond Engineering Monarch of the Match was Sean Stoddart who took all his chances with both hands and scored paid 9.

Seven race winners isn't really enough at home, and we made too many errors to deserve to take the bonus point. We should be looking to take maximum points from our three remaining Premier Trophy matches, all at home, but this may well still not be enough to qualify.
