The sad news today is that Dr Carlo Biagi, Speedway's "Miracle Doctor", has died.

Carlo was track doctor at the Scottish circuits for many years, and had a long list of Speedway riders who made their way north to consult him.

There are many stories of riders who thought their racing days were over due to injury, only to enlist Carlo's help and find that he was able to resurrect their careers.

Exceptionally friendly and modest, Carlo would never have accepted the nickname of Miracle Doctor, but it was bestowed on him by others and it stuck.

Because of his outstanding work and popularity he was awarded a Testimonial meeting at Powderhall Stadium in Edinburgh, and presented with a new Rover car.

He loved Speedway and Rugby, and continued to visit both sports whenever he could.

He leaves behind a daughter Leigh (actress in Taggart) and son Simon, TV presenter.
