Early reports on Matthew Wethers and Robert Ksiezak suggest that both riders should be OK after the bad smash which caused the Armadale opener to be abandoned.

The crash happened on the first lap of heat 13 when Glasgow's Robert Ksiezak spun, leaving Matthew Wethers nowhere to go as he raced round the outside.

As Robert went down Matthew seemed to fly over the top of him. Matthew suffered leg and ankle injuries but was later discharged from St John's, Livingston.

It remains to be seen what the eventual outcome is for both riders but so far, it seems the consequences are not as bad as they might have been. Matthew will not ride on Sunday as he can't put weight on his ankle, and Robert has missed Glasgow's Saturday evening match at Workington.

The Armadale match was abandoned as the time required to bring the second ambulance and move the riders was taking us close to the curfew. The score stands at 37-36 to Monarchs at the 12th heat finish.
