The update on our injured star Derek Sneddon is that he is not ready to race in our next couple of matches.

He said on Thursday "I am improving but while I can walk, I can't lift anything and I think it would be silly to try to race. I'll certainly be along to cheer the boys on.

"I will miss the weekend matches but I am hoping to be ready to race at Sheffield on Thursday."

As he is at number three in Monarchs' new averages, the team can cover pretty well with rider replacement - for once averages work out favourably for us, though we look forward to Derek's return.

The match with Stoke would have been the first EVER in which Derek has ridden out of the reserve berth in the Premier League - when in the PL previously riders stayed at reserve for the full season. This event will be merely delayed.
