After some poor recent displays William Lawson came good in a big way with a paid maximum as Monarchs hit 58 against Stoke.

This was a livelier Potters team than many in recent memory, but the home side hit their best form so far, making light of the enforced team changes.

The star of the show was William Lawson who, right from his first heat, showed a confidence and a hunger which has been missing. Even when he didn't gate, he never looked like losing and it was a great start to a big weekend for the young rider.

Ronnie Correy reached his now customary high standard as Monarchs' top two average riders totalled 30. The Rocket was only beaten by Rusty Harrison in heat 13.

Sean Stoddart won his last two heats to total 8, and Andrew Tully was once again an exciting and successful performer.

With Tessari back on Sunday and Sneddon hopefully fit for next week, the team seems to be coming together very nicely now.
