With their best team performance for a long time, Monarchs beat Sheffield 96-90 on aggregate to qualify for the PL Knockout Cup quarter-finals.

This was more than just a good performance, it was a sensational display by a team which just would not be denied. Make no mistake, Sheffield gave everything they had and made it a night to remember for everyone present.

Andre Compton did everything which could have been asked of him with a devastating 17 points, and both Joel Parsons and Ricky Ashworth were tremendous value though their scores did not reflect how much they put into the meeting.

But the Edinburgh team had seven heroes, with everyone scoring at least 7 paid 8. Both Henrik Moller and Andrew Tully dropped just a single point!

There were some great heats - Correy's last bend win over Parsons (heat 6), Tully's great outside overtake of Cockle (heat 12) and the match-clinching heat 14 from Tessari and Moller - unforgettable. But overall it was the commitment from all riders on show, with the crowd lapping up the action and the drama, which made it such a great night.

Bring on our next opponents!
