Ronnie Correy has reported fit to return to the Scotwaste Monarchs' lineup racing against Premier League champions King's Lynn at Armadale on Friday.

The American hasn't raced since 18th May due to a leg injury which proved more serious than first thought. Monarchs of course are still missing Daniele Tessari and will be for some time, while King's Lynn field pretty much a full strength side, especially as they have in-form Czech Tomas Suchanek guesting in place of John Oliver at reserve.

TEAMS FOR THE PREMIER LEAGUE MATCH AT ARMADALE ON FRIDAY 8th JUNE (start time 7.30, doors open 6.30) are:

EDINBURGH SCOTWASTE MONARCHS: Ronnie Correy (capt.), Derek Sneddon, Theo Pijper, Andrew Tully, Henrik Moller, Jack Roberts, Matthew Wethers

KING'S LYNN MONEY CENTRE STARS: Tomas Topinka, Chris Mills, Daniel Nermark, Trevor Harding, Paul Lee, James Brundle, Tomas Suchanek

RONNIE FEELING GOOD: Ronnie Correy was in upbeat mood as he prepared for his return to the track this week.

He said "I'm doing much better with the leg and I will be fine for Friday.

"The swelling has gone down, that means there is feeling, and I'm walking much better.

"I had no choice but to stay off, the doctors said I needed to rest if it was going to heal. But I'm raring to go now."

LAWSON 12th: William Lawson, now on loan from Edinburgh to Wolverhampton, rode in the British Final at Monmore Green on Monday and scored a creditable 4 points.

This put him in twelfth place in the meeting, and included in his victims was Redcar star Gary Havelock who he took from the back.

Lawson has now been replaced in the Edinburgh lineup by Theo Pijper, who made a great return last Friday.

Lawson also has a World Under-21 semi-final coming up at Vojens in Denmark.

The Lawson family and the Monarchs' management have made it clear that the door is wide open to a future return to Monarchs for the Auchterarder racer.

CHANCE FOR JACK: Monarchs will be giving Buxton's Jack Roberts a chance to make his Premier League debut standing in for Daniele Tessari.

Jack has been doing well in Conference matches though this will be a big step up for him.

SPONSORS ON FRIDAY: We welcome as sponsors this Friday the organisers of the Falkirk-based football club Westfield Colts.

CHAMPIONS SETTING THE PACE AGAIN: King's Lynn had to lose some of their stars after winning the league last season (Doolan and Batchelor went to Elite League clubs) but in spite of this they have still been the most successful club so far this season.

Top men Topinka and Nermark have been setting a hot pace once again, with ex-Monarch Nermark averageing an amazing 10.5 over the early matches.

Part of their success though has been the ability of the backup riders such as Lee, Harding and Mills to come up with good scores when required.

At reserve the Stars have the good fortune to be able to track Czech Tomas Suchanek in place of John Oliver. Oliver, who has never scored a point in the Premier League at Armadale, is out for the season while Suchanek (who has a good Armadale record) has recovered from a bad start to the season and is piling up points for Mildenhall.

RESERVE RULES: Speedway rules can sometimes work for you and sometimes against. This week, King's Lynn have had a big break - with Monarchs forced to use Conference League guests for Daniele Tessari, who was scoring well prior to his injury. This is because Tessari is 7th man in the Monarchs' averages.

On the other hand John Oliver, far less formidable at Armadale (0 scored last season), is sixth in King's Lynn's averages because James Brundle has yet to race the required matches to have a new average. This allows choice of a guest from Premier League riders below Oliver's average of 3.90, which in turn allows the use of Mildenhall's Tomas Suchanek. The Czech has a good Armadale record, and is in good form - he top scored with 12 against mighty Rye House last Sunday.

It is in accordance with the rules, there is no question about that. But unless Monarchs can keep Suchanek quiet this could be the major factor in Friday's match - as if the Stars needed any assistance from the rules!

LAST WEEK'S MEETING: The Scotwaste Monarchs beat a Wolverhampton Select 46-44 in an enjoyable match, with comeback man Theo Pijper taking the vital win in the last heat decider and also top scoring with 11.

NEXT WEEK'S MEETING: The Scotwaste Monarchs' opponents at Armadale on Friday 15th June will be Newport Wasps, including their sensational new Pole Michal Rajkowski.
