The Scotwaste Monarchs had three double figure scorers but went down 52-41 at Redcar, and now look forward to the battle for points in the home match.

We never looked like winning against a Bears' side greatly boosted by the permanent inclusion of Josh Auty at reserve. However there were enough positive points to take away from the match.

Derek Sneddon, who has only been in the top five for a few weeks, never looks overawed by the task and grabbed a dozen points which included a heat 8 6-pointer. As usual he scored in every ride.

Matthew Wethers was fit to ride and battled all the way in his usual style, starting with 5 second places.

And Ronnie Correy after a slowish start won his final two heats, beating Grieves in heat 12 and both Havelock and Grieves in the final race.

Theo Pijper was our other race winner, but was also a slow starter to the meeting.

Andrew Tully's gating was not up to scratch and he didn't make a lot of headway, while Jack Roberts was unlucky to fail to score. He touched the tapes in heat 2, and fell while lying second in heat 6.

The match at Armadale will be tough though. Grieves (maximum) and Havelcok (paid 14) dominated the Premier Trophy match, Tresarrieu and Kerr went well also, and now there is Auty to worry about as well! Hw was a double figure scorer at Redcar.
