The Scotwaste Monarchs haven't had much luck with the weather but they made light work of the tricky conditions in a storming 56-37 over Workington.

The Comets are rated one of the best teams around, but in spite of quick gating by their heat leaders we saw some sparkling speedway by the young Monarchs as they came from the back against such formidable opponents as Stonehewer and Nieminen.

The one man they couldn't peg back was Daniel Nermark whose speed from the gate was matched by his all-round class. He scored an 18-point five ride maximum though he was fortunate in heat 1 when he seemed to have stopped prior to the red lights coming on.

Andrew Tully earned the Hermiston Monarch of the match award (and he also did the fastest time) but there were also great overtakes from William Lawson, Matthew Wethers, Derek Sneddon and Ryan Fisher.

Aaron Summers also had his steadiest meeting so far.

The absence of Thomas Jonasson didn't do any harm on the night with a paid 11 return from the 4 rider replacement rides, but it will be good to have Thomas back in the fold next week.
