Three maximums and seven fine performances brought the Monarchs a record-breaking 68-22 home win over Scunthorpe at Armadale.

William Lawson (full), Andrew Tully (full) and Matthew Wethers (paid) were the maxi-men as Monarchs racked up 11 5-1s during the night.

It was one-sided certainly but it was also a pleasure to watch such an exciting team in full flow. The only danger is that matches like this might encourage complacency. Scunthorpe were a disappointment even allowing for the absence of Viktor Bergstrom, injured on Thursday night. He would have been unlikely to have had any effect on the scoreline.

Tully gets better with every meeting and was supremely spectacular on his way to 5 victories. Lawson of course is undeniably Monarchs' current no. 1 and proved how well he is going with his pass of Magnus Karlsson, top Scorpion, in heat 10.

And Wethers was quite brilliant also, cleverly stalking and passing Hall in the final heat and riding within himself all evening, content to come second to his partner in four of his five rides.

Our lowest scorers picked up six paid 7 and both of these riders (Derek Sneddon and Thomas Jonasson) only had three rides each!

Monarchs have now raced 16 matches in all with just two defeats, their next outing being at Scunthorpe in the League on Monday.
