The Scotwaste Monarchs got as close to ensuring victory in the Premier Trophy final as it is possible to get in a single leg by recording a 41-point win over Birmingam at Armadale.

And that was after losing heat 1! Tomasz Piszcz. a spirited opponent, took the opening heat as Mark Lemon hit problems (his steel shoe strap caught in his chain!)

Monarchs then amazingly recorded 5 points in 7 of the next 8 heats, the exception being a heat 3 win for Kyle Legault.

For the Brummies even Jason Lyons has a poor night (2 points), and only Piszcz and Legault provided much opposition.

Monarchs had two maximum scorers - Ryan Fisher a full 18 from 6 rides (brilliant, though helped by a Piszcz engine failure while winning heat 15) and Aaron Summers 8+4 from 4 rides.

A 65-24 winning margin must surely be enough. Monarchs can now turn their attention to the important league fixtures over the weekend.
