In spite of losing the first race 1-5 and also suffering several bouts of machine problems, Monarchs still defeated Berwick 59-33 in a match which was not short of incident.

A poor first turn in that opening heat by Lemon and Sneddon allowed Paul Clews to join Adrian Rymel at the front.

Monarchs were soon into their stride though, and hit five 5-1's in the next seven heats, the highlight probably being Ryan Fisher's last bend pass on Clews to take second in heat 7 behind the flying Tully.

Heat 9 would have brought a similar result but Thomas Jonasson lost a footrest and dropped back to third place.

Makovsky and Clews than took a 4-2 over Mark lemon in heat 10, and unbeaten Adrian Rymel was sent out on a TR in heat 11.

Ryan Fisher touched the tapes and went off 15 metres, and Rymel again made the start. Andrew Tully swept to the front though off the second corner, while Fisher quickly passed Aarnio and set out after Rymel.

Tully unluckily stopped with the race in his pocket, allowing Rymel to go to the front - but not for long as he made some errors and Fisher amazingly overcame his 15 metre handicap to pass him!

Rymel was headed again in heat 13 by both Monarchs, and another home 5-1 in heat 14 made the score 56-30.

Rymel made yet another start in heat 15 while Makovsky pushed Fisher wide. Aaron Summers moved inside Makovsky who fell as the pair reached the third turn.

Makovsky was excluded, a decision not everyone agreed with. However this was no excuse for Makovsky's subsequent actions which have left Summers with a wrecked helmet.

There were witnesses to what happened and this matter will be taken further.

However nothing could detract from another fine Monarchs' performance.
