The Scotwaste Monarchs might have become Premier League champions tonight - but it didn't happen because Somerset won 49-41 at the Isle of Wight, the Islanders first home league defeat this season.

It was a good win by the Rebels and something of a surprise. Brent Werner did well at reserve, and the rider replacement facility for Simon Walker worked well in his last two rides.

For The Islanders Krzysztof Stojanowski was withdrawn from the meeting after a crash in his third ride.

Somerset now need another away win tomorrow at Birmingham, an apparently easier task, to go one point clear at the top of the table.
