William Lawson scored four points in the World Under-21 Championship in Pardubice on Saturday. Russian Emil Saifutdinov retained his title.

William took four third places in his first four rides, and while he may have hoped to do a little better, it was a strong field on a track most of the competittors would know better than the Scot.

He outscored Tai Woffinden who returned a disappointing 3. William's scalps were Simon Gustafsson, Andriy Karpov, Ludvig Lindgren and Patrick Hougaard.

Saifutdinov confirmed that he is the sport's top prospect with another superb display. Chris Holder was again runner up with Jurica Pavlic third and Troy Batchelor fourth.

William will rejoin the team at Somerset on Wednesday.
