SENSATIONAL DISPLAY BY MONARCHS

  Edinburgh Monarchs

The Scotwaste Monarchs turned on the style at Armadale tonight, beating Newcastle by exactly the same score as in last September's league encounter, 64-26.

Newcastle probably have a better team this year, but it was hard to tell as the Monarchs tore them apart. Ryan Fisher and Aaron Summers never looked like being beaten, even when they were outgated, and both Andrew Tully and Matthew Wethers dropped just a single point.

There was some good racing, especially towards the end, but overall the match was one-sided. The last heat displayed the quality of the Monarchs' riding - visitors Kenni Larsen and Steve Boxall (one win each) made the start, only to find Fisher (outside) and Summers (inside) slicing past them round the first turn in sensational style.

It was not a great return for Derek Sneddon (3 points) though he will surely have better Armadale meetings before the year is out.

Monarchs seem ready to take on all comers once again.
