HARD FOUGHT THREE POINTS

The Scotwaste Monarchs fought hard to overcome their injury problems and two outstanding visiting riders to take all three points in a 53-43 victory over Berwick.

Paul Clews (15) and Josef Franc (14) were the top two Bandits with Clews especially in sensational form.

Monarchs were without both Thomas Jonasson and Andrew Tully, and had a heart-stopping moment as Matthew Wethers took a heavy fall in heat 7. Fortunately he recovered to take a vital paid 9 from his next three rides including an excellent combination ride with Michal Rajkowski for a 5-1 over William Lawson in heat 11.

Berwick still had a chance of a match point had they taken a 5-1 in heat 15 but Ryan Fisher won the heat.

Monarchs have not yet been able to book suitable guests for the weekend matches.
