A WET, WET NIGHT AND A WIN

After a day of truly miserable weather at Armadale the match against Somerset was successfully run, at least to heat 12, and with some difficulty Monarchs took the three points.

It was certainly very wet but it still came as something of a surprise when the Rebels asked for a track inspection after heat 12.

They were 9 behind but seemed strongly represented over the last three heats, and certainly had a chance of a point.

Monarchs' lead had been cut to three points after Ryan Fisher shed a chain in heat 10 after making the start. It took two heat advantages, both featuring Aaron Summers, to build the lead back up to 9.

Kevin Wolbert and Matthew Wethers were again impressive for Monarchs, Matthew pulling off an excellent pass on Steve Johnston in heat 5.

It had seemed though that Corey Gathercole (3 wins including a 6-pointer) and Emil Kramer (2 wins) still had a lot to say about the destination of the points, but before they had a chance the match was called off.

So it has been a successful weekend on-track with six league points for Monarchs, though the appalling weather has obviously once again had an effect on attendances.

Now our next meeting is the double header against Stoke and Rye House next Friday.
