A best-of-season display by the Scotwaste Monarchs saw them surge towards a Playoff place with a magnificent 49-41 victory at second-placed Birmingham.

Right from Ryan's comfortable win over Piszcz in heat 1 the team were clearly in the mood on a track our riders love. Aaron dominated the reserve situation, the Wethers/Wolbert pairing was again brilliant and the Raj battled superbly for his points.

We took the lead in heat 2 won by Aaron, with Byron getting the benefit of the doubt after a first bend coming-together with Jay Herne.

We were pegged back to level in heat 6 in which Rajkoswki got a battling second from the back over Harrison, but went in front once more with Wolbert's first win in heat 10.

Fisher beat Lyons in heat 11, in which a broken seat halted Aaron's brilliant run. However we were not going to be denied, and Aaron bounced back with a paid win behind Kevin in heat 12 which gave us a 6-point lead.

Heat 13 was a tough hurdle but after a first bend crash for Lyons, Ryan took second spot in the rerun.

Heat 14 was probably the best race of the night, a superb win for Summers who fought out a great duel with Sweetman and Wethers. The 4-2 meant we had won the match.

We still needed an advantage to take the full four points, and for the first time had a bit of luck as race leader Piszcz stopped while under pressure from Wolbert. Fisher was baulked which allowed Lyons to pass him but we had done enough to take maximum points.

Andrew Tully returns to the team at Sheffield tomorrow where the lineup will be:

1. Ryan Fisher

2. Michal Rajkowski

3. Andrew Tully

4. Matthew Wethers

5. Kevin Wolbert

6. Byron Bekker

7. Aaron Summers
