The volcanic eruption in Iceland has already caused problems in British Speedway and, unfortunately, will cause problems for the Scotwaste Monarchs over the weekend.

Normally four of our foreigners are resident in the UK with only Kevin W?lbert flying in weekly for matches. However, Kalle Katajisto decided to take advantage of Ryanair's cheap flights to Tampere at the start of this week to return home, for the first time since he arrived in this country in early March. Unfortunately, his return flight this morning was one of the first to be cancelled by volcanic ash. Even if the planes return to the skies tomorrow morning he will not be able to get to the UK until after tomorrow night's match.

Our regular commuter, Kevin W?lbert, who flies in each from morning from Berlin still hopes to do that tomorrow. However, his arrival will entirely be in the hands of volcanic ash and there must be a considerable doubt that he will make it for Friday.

In the worst case scenario, Scotwaste Monarchs will cover for Kevin's absence with rider replacement and a guest will cover for Kalle.
