The Scotwaste Monarchs will take a 12-point lead down south tomorrow after a match which had plenty of talking points.

Monarchs were without their two Germans while the Rockets were missing their reserve Kyle Hughes. The scores were level after 8 heats with Rockets having ALL the race winners from heat 2 to heat 7, so it did not look at the point as though such a margin would be possible.

Monarchs clicked though, and took 6 of the next 7 race advantages. They did throw away a few points, with falls for Tabaka (twice), Tully and Wethers, but not many would be complaining about the final score.

Monarchs' most interesting performers were at reserve. For the second week running Kalle was amazing, piling up his biggest score of 16 and finishing with a couple of these amazing four-lap scorchers we have been seeing recently.

And what about Kyle Howarth? We knew the 16 year old had promise, and he took a decent third in heat 2, but who would have predicted who would get a paid win against Chris Neath? Well he did, and he deserved it.

There were some heavy falls, Matthew Wethers taking a real purler in heat 9 when the otherwise flying Sundstrom ran straight into him. And after two good rides to open with, Jozsef Tabaka overdid things and fell very awkwardly twice.

Most predictions are that we don't have quite enough of a lead, but the team will be giving it their all on Saturday night.
