DISAPPOINTING HOME LOSS TO KING'S LYNN

A dreadful start, an exciting comeback to lead after heat 9, and a poor finish saw us lose to King's Lynn who took all four points with a 49-41 success.

Monarchs trailed by an incredible 17-6 after four races, by which time Fisher, Wolbert and Tully were all pointless! Jozsef Tabaka then won two heats as we scored 23 points in 5 races (including one extra for a TR) to lead 29-25.

With at least one top rider in each remaining heat, we should have then been in with a chance of victory, but we couldn't pull it off ? only Kevin Wolbert in heat 12 was a home race winner over the final 6 heats. We just couldn't pin down Lawson and Doolan, in particular.

King's Lynn certainly benefited from having William Lawson guesting, and on his low average which applies all season he will no doubt be back. He only scored 4 points from his opening three rides but then clicked into gear with 3 vital wins, twice beating Ryan Fisher.

Kevin Doolan also came on strongly towards the end after conceding two 5-1s, while Kozza Smith went the other way after starting with two wins.

Obviously we missed Kalle Katajisto, though the reserves on both sides finished up totalling 7-7. Many of these points were gifts and the important third places in heats 12 and 14 went comfortably to the visitors.

We were in with a chance of a draw going in to the final heat but not for the first time, missed the start. Fisher was in second for a while, behind Lawson, but his efforts to gain ground had the opposite effect and Doolan slipped through into second.

A very disappointing result especially after the outstanding win over Birmingham in midweek.
