Championship chasing Scotwaste Monarchs have added to their squad by signing Ashley Morris.
Club Chairman Alex Harkess commented, "Chris Van Straaten, Wolverhampton promoter,
alerted me to the progress being made by Ashley some weeks ago and I've been following
his scores since. He recently finished seventh in the British Under 18 Championship and has
shown improvement throughout the year. We feel that improvement will continue with the
additional outings he will get at Premier League level and we are pleased to give him the
opportunity to develop."
A thrilled Ashley said, "I can't believe I'm getting this opportunity although I was hoping
that I might get a few outings in the Premier League this year. I've been told that I might get
another twenty meetings for the Scotwaste Monarchs this season and I've hardly had that
number during the rest of the season. I'm well prepared for the challenge and, once I get
settled at the higher level, feel that I can get amongst the points. I can't wait for Friday."
Making way for Ashley in the team is Arlo Bugeja. Co-promoter John Campbell said, "Things
haven't worked out for Arlo although he did make a vital contribution in our win at
Sheffield. Both Arlo and ourselves are disappointed with the way things have worked out and we were particularly disappointed at his performance over the past weekend. However, we
part on good terms and I thank Arlo for answering our call and giving it 100% when he was
with us."
Ashley makes his Scotwaste Monarchs debut in their vital league match against Somerset at
Armadale on Friday 27th August at 7.30pm.
