The Scotwaste Monarchs completed an incredible week in which they have gained 12 league points, by beating Glasgow 51-44 at Ashfield.

When we started the week, we still needed 5 points to clinch the title and had a lot of miles to travel. No task seems to be too much for this team who have covered themselves in glory to the delight of our travelling fans ? just a few at King's Lynn but hundreds at the weekend matches.

Today we perhaps weren't at our best, and to be fair to a weakened Glasgow they put up a decent fight. Lee Complin was an exciting guest for them but they were undone by Jason Lyons' struggles, standing in for Joe Screen.

On our side Kevin Wolbert top scored again with some more stylish and powerful riding, and both Ryan Fisher and Andrew Tully won two heats.

Matthew Wethers did his bit as always including one thrilling 5-1 with Ryan over the hard-pressing Complin. Kalle Katajisto came good after a sluggish start and there were points at reserve too ? 9 of of them.

Ashley Morris continues to impress, taking points from the back, and William Lawson won heat 2 though his machinery seemed to peter out on him thereafter.

Andrew Tully picked up a quite inappropriate and ridiculous fine from referee Watters for allegedly taking too long to rise from a heat 9 fall. It was paid with interest by the fans, something we wouldn't normally encourage if the rider is at fault ? but in this case, well done!

Other than that, it was a good natured afternoon with the Tigers' fans and presentation team giving Monarchs full credit for their achievements.

We now have two matches to go and are currently sure to win the league by at least 8 points.
