The Scotwaste Monarchs grabbed a last heat 4-2 to draw their final league match at Somerset. They will thus top the final Premier League table by at least 13 points.

Ryan Fisher led the way once again with a brilliant paid maximum and was rarely challenged, and there were also double figure scores for Matthew Wethers and Kalle Katajisto in a fluctuating match.

Star man Fisher said "We would have liked the win but we'll take the draw."

As the Amercian swept home in the final race, Wethers battled from the back to pass Sam Masters and ensure a share of the spoils at 45-45.

This means that Monarchs finish their league programme with 22 wins and a draw in 26 matches, a superb performance. It would have been hard to predict after they came bottom of their Premier Trophy section in early season.

However Monarchs now turn their attention to a tough Knockout Cup semi-final tie with Workington on Friday and Saturday.
