The 2011 season was successfully launched on Saturday afternoon when Scunthorpe's best-ever crowd saw Hans Andersen win the third Ben Fund Bonanza.

For Edinburgh's no. 1 Kevin Wolbert it was not a great start. He took his four rides but finished pointless. Several times he seemed well placed but lacked speed, sporting his new Brummie race suit.

Ryan Fisher, still not sure what the season holds for him, made a remarkable start when he beat Harris, Andersen and Larsen in the opening race. However he was excluded in his next ride after clattering into Jason Lyons, and finished on four points.

Much of the excitement came from the very lively Ben Barker, who made the final and just failed to catch Andersen on the line.

Chris Harris came third and Davey Watt fourth.
