A last heat 5-1 from Craig Cook and Kalle Katajisto ensured that the Scotwaste Monarchs took a point after a dogged performance at Rye House, in which all seven riders played their part.

Although we had a shortage of race winners throughout, we kept the scores close enough to go into that last heat with a chance.

John Campbell said "I thought we deserved a point, and what made a big difference was Kalle being in the pits and in high spirits, keeping the others entertained."

Kalle had received official release from the reserve's role in the World Under-21 due to his father's illness, which meant he could not complete the journey.

Our race wins came from Andrew Tully, who headed the impressive Boxall in heat 7, then Matthew Wethers in heat 8 - plus of course that excellent last heat effort.

Ashley Morris made a good start in heat 2 ( yes, really) to take a second place, and Lee Dicken had his best match so far with 4+2.
