The Scotwaste Monarchs scored a huge 64-26 win over Plymouth tonight in a long-drawn out match in which three of the home men rode unbeaten.

Andrew Tully, Craig Cook and Kyle Howarth were the maxi-men on a night when a high proportion of the heats were processional. Most of the time the Monarchs were in front but even Kevin Wolbert, who has pulled off some memorable passes this season, found conditions too tricky for passing when he trailed in third in heat 6.

Jason Lyons (guesting for Barker) failed to produce his recent excellent form for the Devils whose only race winner was reserve Kyle Hughes.

Drizzle in the early part of the meeting caused a few problems for the riders and there were some hairy moments. The only injury was to veteran Mark Simmonds who went through the fence in heat 7 in spectacular fashion. It looked bad as he flew into a lighting pole and in the circumstance the broken wrist he has been diagnosed with is something of a relief.

Craig Cook pulled off the two most memorable moments off the night, an outside pass on Lyons in heat 13 and a brilliant first bend cutback against the same rider in heat 15. There were also great first bend outside moves by both Wolbert and Katajisto, but generally placings were established early in the races.

Kyle Howarth will certainly remember his 9 paid 12 though he was somewhat lucky to be in the rerun heat 4. He lost control and fell while leading but the referee somehow ruled out Pickard who had also fallen.
