The Fours at Leicester was another meeting which didn't reach its conclusion, but we will not be returning for the 16-heat restating of the final because we were dumped out at semi-final stage.

We didn't perform well and our two scorers were Kevin Wolbert (4) and Andrew Tully (2).

Kalle Katajisto and Craig Cook both had bike problems carrying over from Workington last night, and didn't look like scoring.

Qualifiers from the first semi were the very impressive home side, and Somerset who just pipped Glasgow in spite of another impressive show from Nick Morris.

From the second semi, Workington and Ipswich comfortably made it through.

These teams will contest the restating of the final at a date to be announced.

The start of the meeting was delayed by some heavy rain for about an hour, then the two semis were staged speedily on a track which stood up well to the rain.

Unfortunately more rain after the semis were completed made conditions impossible and the decision to abandon the meeting and restage the final seemed a sensible one.

Edinburgh fans had the pleasure of the company of the Fisher family standing with them during the meeting.

Also the Emmerdales made a presentation to Shane Parker at the interval, on behalf of the Monarchs, for his contribution to Scottish Speedway. This was much appreciated by the former Tiger.
