The Scotwaste Monarchs have been boosted in their Playoff bid for the Premier League title by the confirmed return of their Hungarian rider Jozsef Tabaka.
John Campbell received the news tonight. “Jozsef was given the all-clear by the Hospital yesterday but he still wanted to have a try-out. This was at Debrecen today and he has told me he’s OK and looking forward to riding on Friday.”
Monarchs lost Craig Cook and Tabaka in less than 24 hours in mid-August, just when they had found their best form of the season. In their last match together the pair had ridden 9 races between them and won the lot – and that was against the team at the top of the League, Newcastle!
While the absence of top average rider Cook has been covered pretty well by a series of very good guests, it has been the loss of Tabaka from the no. 6 position which has been more difficult to make up for.
Now the team returns to virtually full strength just in time for the Friday (home) and Sunday (away) matches against Scunthorpe.
Cook should have ridden for Belle Vue tonight against Birmingham but the match was rained off.
