The next stage in the Scotwaste Monarchs’ struggle for survival is the crucial one, and supporters will be informed on Monday night at Livingston Football Club (7:30) at a public meeting, the decision on the future of the club.

It has been a hectic period since the speedway season ended, and the Monarchs’ directors have made no secret of the fact that they have been hugely encouraged by the support and loyalty of their supporters.

The board met on Wednesday night and considered all aspects of the situation. There are still some matters to be taken to a conclusion, but we can say that the directors felt that the meeting was a positive one.

It would not be appropriate to say any more before Monday. We are not of course the only East of Scotland sporting institution facing current problems – it would be good to think that we will all come through it. Hearts may take longer, we wish them well, but our fans will know on Monday.
