Scotwaste Monarchs make the relatively short trip to Redcar on Thursday evening for another vital Premier League match.

The Bears are having a good season and, currently, sit second in the Premier League just one place above the Scotwaste Monarchs. Tonight's winners will go to the top of the League.

Redcar have built a solid team this year meaning that most of their home matches have been won by small margins, six points for instance in their cup match against Rye House last week. They have suffered only one league defeat at home against Workington.

Scotwaste Monarchs will be at full strength with Craig Cook back at number one and Max Fricke moving back into the main body of the team at number 4. Perhaps that will make Jozsef Tabaka the secret weapon at reserve. The South Tees Motopark has not always been a happy hunting ground for the Monarchs but it would be disappointing if we did not come away with at least one league point this evening.

Recently announced fixture changes see us trying to complete the Spring Trophy at Ashfield before Autumn on 11th August. Although this will be on the same day as a big football game in Edinburgh for those who wish to see both the football will be finished more than an hour before the speedway starts.

Our cup semi final dates have been confirmed for the end of August and Tuesdays have become the new Wednesdays for Somerset now that Jason Doyle is racing for Birmingham in the Elite League.

Although not the best day of the week, our league date at Workington has been rescheduled for Monday 9th September. Scotwaste Monarchs co-promoter, John Campbell, had long discussions with his counterpart at Workington, Tony Jackson, to come up with a date. At one stage every date in the calendar from late June to early September was set out and bit by bit days were eliminated. At one stage a Sunday staging seemed possible only for one of our riders to confirm that he wasn't available. We will be running a free bus to the meeting and priority will be given to those who had booked a place for the 22nd June trip.
