The downside of the two excellent matches we have seen in the last couple of days is of course the very bad injury suffered by Mitchell Davey at Sheffield.

There is no more popular guy with his team mates than the normally cheerful Aussie. He was as usual giving his all for the team, and using a new engine at Owlerton, pressing the home reserves when the accident happened.

His fiancée Donna has been keeping everyone in touch with such news as there is so far. Mitchell is still down in Sheffield with no definite news on when he might get back to Scotland, and Donna’s dad Colin has also been down there.

The photo comes from Donna and shows a thing called an orif (open reduction, internal fixation) which is “basically a plate with screws through the bone”.

As previously stated, Mitchell has a compound fracture to his right femur. We will relay any further news we get.
