Theo Pijper was racing for Holland in the World Long Track Team Cup at Swingfield near Folkestone in Kent today and he‘s come away from the meeting, together with his teammates, as the World Champion.

Holland came from eleven points behind France after the third round of races to pip the French by just two points to secure the crown. The three man Dutch team scored the maximum of twelve in each of their last three races. Theo scored a thirty point maximum winning all his six races. Great Britain finished third in the event.

Elsewhere, in a bit of a mis-match at Newcastle Great Britain defeated Australia in the fourth Premier League Test by 67 points to 23. Craig Cook scored a paid maximum in his five rides with 12 and 3 bonus. Max Fricke top scored for the Aussies with 6 and a bonus from five races and he was the only race winner for his team winning heat 2.

In Poland both Claus Vissing and Jozsef Tabaka were racing for Krosno at Krakow and they were soundly defeated by 54 to 36 to cement their position at the foot of the play off table. Claus scored 8 from five races and failed to win a race starting at number 1 and Jozsef, at 3, did even worse with just 2 and a bonus from four races. Next week Krosno have a home match against Rybnik who crushed Opole today by 65 to 25.

Our current reign as league leaders was short lived with Somerset scoring a big away win at Berwick on Saturday night to secure all four points and go to the top of the table on points difference. Their expected big win at Ashfield on Sunday afternoon did not materialise as the Tigers made them battle all the way for victory. It was only a heat 14 fall for Anders Thomsen that turned the tide in favour of the Rebels who scored a last race 5-1 to secure a two point victory. They now have exactly the same league record as ourselves but with a vastly superior race points difference.
