The Scotwaste Monarchs go into Friday night's match with Rye House at Armadale knowing that a win of any kind will guarantee them a place in the end of season Championship play-offs.

Such a win would ensure that only five teams could finish with a greater points tally and would guarantee that we finish above Redcar who are thought to be battling with Leicester for the final play-off position. Rye House are always tough opposition at Armadale so it won't be easy.

Craig Cook warmed up for the match with a meeting for Belle Vue at Swindon and he helped the Aces to a shock 48 to 42 away win scoring 6 + 1 from his four races and improved his scoring with every race.

Rye House also had two riders in action on Thursday evening in opposing teams at Sheffield. Tyson Nelson scored 4 + 1 for Scunthorpe to help them win against Sheffield who had Jason Bunyan scoring 5 + 1 from five rides. The win gives Scunthorpe an outside chance of securing a play-off spot and defeat for the Tigers give the Tigers of the Glasgow variety hope, although very slight, of avoiding the wooden spoon.

Scotwaste Monarchs league match at Newcastle, originally washed out on a rainy Sunday at the end of July, has now been re-arranged for Sunday 15th September, just 24 hours before the cut off date for the Premier League play-offs.

Jozsef Tabaka was back in Hungary this week to race in the major individual meeting of his home town, the Grand Prix of Debrecen. He was the top scorer in the main event with 13 points and that took him direct to the final together with Josef Franc. They were joined from the semi final by Poles Tomasz Chrzanowski and David Lampart and it was the Poles who dominated the final leaving Jozsef in third place.

It is now just over two weeks until our away match at Workington and those who were originally booked for the bus in June and have not already done so, are asked to confirm if they will travel on the bus to this meeting. Bookings to the video table on the Monarchs Mall.
