Initial details of how fund raising is going for the air fence to be put in place at Armadale for the start of the 2014 season were revealed at the Club's End of Season Dinner last Saturday.

During his speech at the dance Co-Promoter John Campbell confirmed that, at that point, the total in the Fund amounted to £3259.94. Of that £990 had come from Bob Miller's sponsored swim although, pleasingly, before the end of the dance that sum had increased to well over £1000. Another surprisingly good contributor to the fund has been the Rag Bag collecting of unwanted clothing. In the short period of operation this has added more than £400. Supporters are encouraged to accumulate old clothes through the close season as this could add a significant sum.

In addition there have been some direct donations from individuals and the 2014 Scotwaste Monarchs calendar is also producing additional funds.

The Fund has continued increasing on a daily basis since the dance and the total now stands at £4401.94.

The Club's directors are to meet shortly to determine which of the air fence products will be purchased and this will go a long way to establishing the total cost of the project. In addition to the air fence there is significant work required at the track to fit the fence in position and the feeling, at the moment, is that the total outlay will not be far short of £20,000. We're not quite 25% of the way there yet in our fundraising.

The next event on the fund raising calendar is "An evening with Craig Cook" which takes place at Broughton Rugby Club, Granton Road Edinburgh on Friday 29th November. Full details of what promises to be a fascinating night will be revealed over the weekend when tickets will go on sale online.
