It was another rock-solid display from the Scotwaste Monarchs tonight in beating Newcastle 57-38, the team's 13th successive victory, and a particularly courageous display by Aaron Fox to score 7, his highest score, just 7 days after suffering a severe gash to his leg.

He admitted "I didn't try anything rash in my first couple of heats, and I even backed off a little in one of the first corners because I didn't want to take unnecessary risks. But by the end of the night I was fine. I've still to take the tape off and see how my leg is!"

In his final ride Aaron was able to combine with Derek Sneddon in an excellent heat 14 5-1 over flying Lewis Kerr.

Newcastle provided decent opposition with their strong top four, but they were handicapped by having to track very inexperienced reserves plus a rider replacement in the top five. So there was never much chance they could win but messers King, Robson, Kerr and Lindgren ensured that there was some worthy opposition.

Craig Cook top scored for Monarchs, dropping his only point to Robson in heat 10. He had to fight his way past Kerr initially and by the time he did so he was too far back from the Diamonds' captain, who really is still a fine rider.

Max Fricke had an outstanding night and fully deserved his heat 15 outing. He was a bit fortunate in heat 3 when Kerr fell with the Diamonds on a 5-1, but Max really stepped up to the plate in heat 5. Faced with Danny King on a TR he led all the way, ensuring no Diamonds fightback at that stage.

Even better was heat 12, a fiercely contested heat with both Fricke and Steve Worrall getting the better of Robson on the first lap. Robbo never let up but even though he lifted badly at one point, Max covered his partner superbly for the 5-1.

Birthday boy Sam Masters won his first two heats, there were two wins also for Stevie Worrall and at least a paid win for all of the team. Everyone piled up points consistently and the totalled 11 heat winners and only 4 last places.

We will now try to keep our winning run going at Glasgow (Sunday) and Ipswich (Thursday), tough matches obviously, before Glasgow come to Armadale next Friday.
