The biggest individual event in Craig Cook's short career ended with a 2-point score at the Cardiff Grand Prix tonight, scored in an encouraging heat two ride in which he beat Freddie Lindgren and Jarek Hampel.

We probably all had our own thoughts then of what he might go on to achieve, but we would no doubt have also agreed that he would find points hard to come by if he missed starts.

That unfortunately is what happened and he was tending to leave the tapes more upwards than forwards.

He probably hoped for a few more points, which he is certainly capable of, but he has been there now and knows what it's like. The hard work starts right away to get back there, and of course he should also have World Cup involvement later this month.

There was a big interview with our man in the programme and the fans gave him great support as with all the British riders in all their rides.

It was an excellent GP, the eventual top three being the outstanding men of the meeting. Tai Woffinden really is some rider, doing everything well in a thrilling display, but even he could not quite catch the amazing Hancock.

Darcy Ward was third and was also great to watch.

And the fireworks, as always, were brilliant.
