Scotwste Monarchs have been dealt a massive blow just hours before their first Play-off match with Berwick at Armadale this evening with the news that skipper Derek Sneddon will not be in the line up.

Derek has been struck down with a severe bout of food poisoning and made the Club aware of his predicament on Friday morning. Said Derek, "I feel awful. I hardly have the strength to get out of bed never mind riding a speedway bike. I've been up all night and I just can't contemplate sitting on a bike."

With little time to find a replacement the Scotwaste Monarchs have brought in Fast track Leicester rider, Max Clegg, to fill the gap. He's ridden a couple of times at Armadale this season already.

The Scotwaste Monarchs remain confident of starting their Play-off campaign with a win although Derek's absence will be an encouragement to the Bandits.

The gates open at 6.30pm with the action getting underway at 7.30pm.
