Scotwaste Monarchs battled hard at Workington to overcome a sixteen point deficit after only four races but eventually went down to defeat by 53 to 43.

Craig Cook and Max Fricke were top scorers with fifteen points each and both won tactical rides. Sam Masters scored 8 but Justin Sedgmen managed just 4 from his 5 races. The reserves solitary point from ten races came in heat 2.

It was a night of no highlights on a super slick track and also a night that the absence of Derek Sneddon and Stevie Worrall was a big blow to the team.

All riders came through the match without injury and with far more important matches coming up that was crucial.
